Join us for an exploration of our coal mining heritage through sound, words, and pictures, featuring the premiere of a unique piece of electronic music that blends Durham Miners’ Association’s performances of historic colliery band scores with the reverb of Beamish’s drift coal mine.

This is followed by a discussion between Brass Bands England’s Chief Operating Officer Sarah Baumann, Justine Boussard from The Amateur Ancestor, and Julia Rawlins, Senior Expert for ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. Together, they’ll explore how our carbon heritage can shape our response to the climate crisis, informed by conversations with retired miners and their families.
